At S W Hunt we are experienced and accredited air source heat pump installation specialists.
Situated in Billericay and operating throughout Essex, we provide our customers with an individually designed, supplied and installed package for your air source heat pump (ASHP) heating and domestic hot water system. We are able to install MCS approved systems which in turn give you the opportunity to access the lucrative government grant scheme for renewable heating – the RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive).
What are air source heat pumps?
Air source heat pumps are an energy efficient way of heating a property or a space. They are used to move hot air from one location to another in order to heat your home throughout the winter or even cool it in those hot summer months. This process occurs by transferring heat from the outdoor air into your home via a refrigeration process. The heat can be either transported in the air for heating, or to water for radiant in-floor heating. In the summer, the process is reversed and heat is drawn out of your home and rejected into the outdoor air.
What are the benefits of air source heat pumps?
Saving Money – Air Souce Heat pumps are much cheaper to run than direct electric heating, gas and even oil boilers. They use only around 25-33% of the electricity that a standard resistance heater uses for the same amount of heating, thereby reducing your electricity costs.
Saving Carbon Emissions – Unlike burning oil, gas, LPG or biomass, a heat pump produces no carbon emissions on site (and no carbon emissions at all, if a renewable source of electricity is used to power them). By installing an air source heat pump you can reduce your carbon emissions from your homes heating by 50%.
Income Source – Air source heat pumps are potential income sources, if households qualify for the government Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme. The RHI is payable on an MCS ASHP installation, carried out by an MCS Accredited Installer.
Easy – Air Source heat pumps require less maintenance than combustion based heating systems.
All year round – Heat pumps can provide cooling in summer, as well as heating in winter.
